The creation of Parasurama Kshetram

Parasuraama, the son of sage Jamathagni after all his conquests of Kshatriya kings was doing penance in Himalayas when many Brahmins went and requested him to find a place for them to live and proliferate as they did not have a land of their own.
Parasurama was very considerate as he was also a Brahmin and wanted to help them. As he was away from all land mass he thought of getting the land for these Brahmins from the sea. Then Parasurama took his axe and threw it into the sea on the western side of Bharat (Arabian sea of today) and a land mass came out of the sea and he asked his Brahmin followers  to go and settle there. These Brahmins then went and settled there.
This land mass is later called Parasurama Kshethram or Kerala as known today. So his Brahmin followers went and settled there as per Puranas. So it is also called PARASURAMA KSHETHRAM. Parasurama was  an avatar of Lord Vishnu.
